replace them with 2 round hooks.

I purchased the solid surface armrest for my Deering Classic Goodtime 2 banjo. It literally took 5 minutes to install and fit perfectly. I would highly recommend this product.

  4. Improves the angle of attack on strings 5 Star Review

I have five BanjoMates on various types of banjos. I have big hands and small wrists and being able to raise the arm-rest to slightly above bridge height makes it easier to do the drop thumb and two finger style playing. The overall appearance is just a bonus.

  5. Great product, excellent customer service 5 Star Review

I ordered this armrest because I'm allergic to nickel, and my Deering Goodtime was causing problems on my forearm. Upon arrival I immediately tried to install it and broke it due to me being an ogre, and no fault of its own. I called to see if I could order a new plastic part for it, that is when I was told it was covered for life and a new piece would be sent to me for free. Buy this rest you will not be disappointed.

  6. Mounts easy, looks great 5 Star Review

Bought the ebony thinline. Looks great on both an Ome Wizard and a Romero Minstrel. It will stay on the Romero.

Very sturdy when assembled and the retaining pieces that mount on the hooks to hold the armrest in place are less noticeable than I thought they would be.

Quality plating on the metal parts. Finely polished armrest. I do not have the need to buy another, but I would if another banjo comes along !

  7. Flexible, Functional, and Fine Looking 5 Star Review

I first purchased a Banjomate Thinline "Ebony" Armrest for my Deering Goodtime banjo when I started learning to play. There was no armrest when the banjo arrived and I soon found it uncomfortable to play/practice for very long - especially with my shirtsleeve rolled up so as not to mute the strings. Installing the armrest for this banjo newbie was the first time I had done anything to the banjo because it had arrived already set up with the bridge in place. Removing two hooks and getting the armrest placed proved to be straightforward following the instructions that were provided. The result was not only more comfort for my right arm but the dark armrest contrasted nicely with the Goodtime maple rim and neck. A side benefit of the installation was getting over any trepidation about futzing with the parts of the banjo, liking adjusting head tension - figuring I could undo any "damage" I might do by retracing my steps.

So, over the last year banjo acquisition syndrome had taken root and I had somehow acquired two more banjos - a Gold Tone OT-800 and a Bill Rickard Maple Ridge. Both of these banjos came with armrests and I didn't think much more about it as I began trading off playing among the three since I had them in different tunings. On a trip to the Nimble Fingers music fest and workshops I only took the Rickard banjo with its original armrest. After a week of playing and practicing I was convinced that when I returned home I'd order another Thinline.

In fact I ordered two, both the dark "ebony", and installed them on the Gold Tone and the Rickard. Easily installed on both of these instruments - the system LMM has designed seems pretty darn flexible as the Goodtime has the fewest number of bracket hooks while the OT-800 tubaphone has the most. The head rings are all also different but proved to be no problem. I like how the armrest looks on all banjos - I've included photos of all three.

I find the armrests simple, functional, comfortable, and enhancing to the look of my instruments. Little Mountain Music was also easy to order from and service was prompt. If more banjos are in my future I hope they'll still be making these.

  10. Creative Solution 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Jul 2013

It's nice to know America still has highly creative people inventing solutions to our problems. The key is in the attachment mechanism as well as the material used for the armrest.

Everywhere I go, I get positive comments, AND, the mechanism will last as long as my handmade banjo. I even asked the creator to sign and date the back. That's how impressed I was. Everything about my banjo is the best. Don't waste your time on the cheapie chrome metal ones. Every time I look at the banjo I know I made the right decision.
