  1. Great product! Pop it on and you're ready to go. 5 Star Review

I needed something that would help me with my bow grip. I'm 50ish and came across the BowMate.

I almost bought a different product, but found out you had to actually disassemble your bow to put it on.

I found this, it's great. Slip it right on and you know right where to put your finger.

So simple. Pops right on and you're good to go. Love it! Great idea.

  2. Also works for double bassists! 5 Star Review

While violinists and violists use BowMate to position the index finger on the stick, I've discovered that it also works very well for bassists who play French bow to make a more ergonomic place for the thumb. Just place it on the underside of the stick where it meets the frog. Helps eliminate a lot of thumb pain associated with French bow on the bass.

Because the bass bow stick is thicker, I recommend some good double-sided tape on the stick to hold BowMate in place, or do what I did: roll some surgical tube over BowMate to hold it in place.

  3. Sometimes you need a little help to get started 5 Star Review

What a great idea, I'm an 'oldie/newbie' getting into Bluegrass Jams and have added banjo and mandolin to my guitar capability. Lately I've been thinking about getting a fiddle and when I saw the BowMate I bought 2. Using this gives me confidence to relax and focus on the tune instead of worrying about where my hold is on the bow. The 2nd one is for my grandson when he shows interest in picking up the fiddle. Very pleased, an excellent aid that works!

  4. A good idea! 4 Star Review

Works pretty well, and has quickly sorted out my bow grip. I do find it a little loose, though, with a tendency to move around

  5. Simple and effective. 5 Star Review

The bowmate does what it's advertised to do.
    It is simple and effective.

  6. Where’s My BowMate?? 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Mar 2014

I received a call from a music store in northern Ohio. Their repair/setup technician asked if we carried a product for bow hold development and wanted to know how much they were. I informed him we were the original manufacturer and quoted him dealer pricing. He said he would talk to the owner and get back with me. I was curious and asked how they had heard of our product.
    “Well, he replied… that’s an interesting story”….
He told me how they supply rental instruments to area schools and a student had requested an upgraded model. The student turned in their old Violin and left with the newer instrument. As the repairman cleaned and adjusted the instrument he noticed a molded black item in the accessory pocket of the case. It was passed around to his co-workers and not knowing what it was, it was set aside and eventually discarded.
The student eventually realized they had left the item in their old case and returned to the store..”where’s my BowMate? I need it for my lessons…”
They had no idea what it was the student was asking about but briefly remembered the item, and after a search determined they had misplaced it and unfortunately it was lost. The student left the store dismayed, upset, and not knowing what to do.
Later, the student’s string teacher came to the store. Her student had asked her help in getting it back. She was a little upset and felt that the store should replace the item as her student needed it for their lessons.
They were told by the store owner to find a replacement so they could keep everyone happy. A quick Google search directed them to us.
I found the story so amusing, that I offered a free one to help resolve their dilemma....it brought a smile and sense of personal satisfaction...:)
My thanks to the unknown Violin teacher in Lorain County, Ohio

"I suggest to all my students, that before they begin their lessons to obtain a BowMate. It gets them started off right away with establishing a good bow hold, and they quickly learn to develop and retain proper bowing skills ..emily w, , MI"

  8. Almost perfect! 4 Star Review

As an adult beginner, I have really appreciated the bowmate. It helps tremendously with the pinching that happens on the inside of your index finger. I wish it was a little tighter though, so that I could push it further up the bow, allowing me to play in a more Irish style. It really is too loose to play in any other position than right over the cushion pad. Other colors would be nice too. :)
